Hi ya,
I have a parent who is a part timer (2 days a week full time) but is asking if i can look after 2 and 3 of her kids during specific / emergency bookings throughout the week while she is on training - i charge normal rate for contracted days but what do i charge her for these emergency bookings. She's not going to be paying for this though - previously she used me on a sat and i charged her £7 per hour per child do i charge this or my normal rate?
thanks

I normaly charge my higher rate for emergency bookings, but do try & gage the situation. I think if the higher rate isn't going to be a problem ...then go for it! Tasha

I agree with Tasha - charge your higher rate for emergency bookings if it is not going to cause a problem

I agree with tasha as well you should charge your emergency rate if this does not cause any problems with the parent obviously if you need the business and the parent is not in agreement then you could drop the rate slightly to keep the business. Although personally i would keep it to the emergency rate. Lindaxx

I've put a higher rate in my contracts for "mutually agreed additional hours" otherwise parents tend to expect you to do extra hours at the rate they are paying you for usual contracted hours.
