what do you do if the child tells you they have been given medicine and are acting quite slow first thing in the morning . I may have a child who's parents are doping her up before they give her to me. Have already spoke to the mother but she denies it. This has happened on more then a few occasions now. Lizzie

Firstly you need to document it all times/dates condidtion of the child in your notes of concern. How old is the child? Tasha

yep! Document for a month or if you think that is too long then 2 weeks & see what it looks like on paper (that is if you haven't documented up till now)...I would give the NCMA helpline a call as well...I'll PM you my number if you want to talk! Tasha

I look after a child who is 3 yrs 9 months and she hasn't a clue when 'today', 'tomorrow' and 'yesterday' really are.... 'I was sick in my bed last night' often refers to 3 weeks ago ' I went to the farm yesterday' refers to a visit we went on in the summer! Just be aware they get muddled up and it's blooming hard to prove! Equally, you are absolutely right to follow Tasha's advice and write it all down and keep a very close eye on the child Sarahx

I look after a 4 year old whose concept of time is not developed yet . Today he said "we saw that cat there tomorrow" he meant 2 weeks ago - always makes me smile ;D STill tho back to the point - i would document it cos you're nowt to lose doing that and then decide (god i'm tiered , i've just repeated wht everyone else has put......durrrrr )
