Still trying to get all my paperwork in order for ofsted! ;D
Per child: 2 folders: One with weekly observations / planning and one with their child record form and permission forms A daily diary with emergency permission form at front for accidents occuring on outings.
For me: A planning folder with short, medium and long term plans A childminders daily diary with my jobs to do safety checks etc A risk assessment folder for each room in the house including fire safety documentation and escape plan
I thought that this was more or less it but then I hear people talking about portfolios. What is it? What do I need to include? I would really appreciate any help!

I have a friend who lives about 20 miles away from me so do not get to see her these days
She is in her 50s and been minding for 30 years
She just had her Ofsted inspection last week
She has a book for each child - pics - comments about stuff they have done - and some of their work - basic though with few comments - she does no planning and no observation
She has her folder with her policies and procedures She has very basic fire drill etc says what she means and that is it I mean very basic in all areas but good with the few words she does use
All her paperwork and certificates are up to date
She has been on this forum but not joined - she is not one for joining in things like this
She was dumb struck when she read what everyone did on here
She does about half of it
She got outstanding !!!!
My point
I just feel that if all your paperwork is in order then you do not have to be like a nursery - my friend proved this by getting outstanding
Good luck Mel whenever your inspection is ? Your paper work sounds fine to me

I totally agree with Angel, I dont do planning, ( but i know i am going to have to), I think there is to much pressure on us to produce all this paperwork. I have been childminding for 15 years and have always loved it but the amount of paperwork lately and what is going to come with the EYFS is just getting silly and for me, it is taking some of the pleasure out of the job.
