Probably a totally daft question, but do you get parents to fill out a permission form every time they need, for eg Calpol, or just once for every time they need calpol
Thanks xx

I record every time I am asked to give it for a specific purpose and every time I have given it - and get parents to sign I don't do 'keep it in the cupboard for whenever' as Ofsted said when I asked that they don't like that ... I just get written permission each time I need Makes it tricky when child falls ill - but my policy says someone has to collect within an hour of my 'your child is ill come now' call and it's not been a problem yet.... I've got a main permission form that parents sign when I take on the child to say I'm allowed to give it.
Then I've got the medication book that parents have to sign each time medication is given

Hi
Agree with everyone else - I have a general permission form signed by parents allowing me to administer then each time medicine is given they sign the book.

I will only give medicine that has been prescribed by the doctor so don't give calpol (unless for ear infection for example) my NVQ training has brought me round to do this.
I use the NCMA forms for meds and write down each time ANYTHING is given.
