Hope everyone had a nice day? Today I advertised for a voluntary Childminding Assistant, living in hope lol (CIS Jobs bulletin) and if anyone could give me some information please. I’m asking for a list of questions to ask the assistant and how to write out a contract and how to apply for a CRB check. I know you have to fill out the CM2 (will I be able to get the CRB free when the assistant fills out the form?) if possible any other information that would be considered. Any forms or contracts and questions would be most appreciated.

Thank you. John.

Think Pauline would be the best to answer this one
I do work with my daughter but she is registered also
It is different with an assistant
Sure Pauline will give you some good advice

Hi John
Yes you will get the CRB done for free.
Some things to consider - you will have to pay the assistant the minimum wage, do their tax and national insurance too AND get employers insurance
Will you be able to afford to pay someone? They might earn more than you!!

What if it's voluntary work as i've advertised for a voluntary assistant.
John.

I'm sure that would be fine, you would still need to do the CM2 and CRB but if they are willing to work just for the experience that would be great.
As regards questions to ask - the most obvious would be what experience they have had with children and why they want to work voluntarily with you. Also, fo they have any references? Course work to show? Training Certificates?
Watch them with the children and go with your gut feeling I think.

Hi John
Do you think you will get someone? Just lately I have had a few letters and CV's through from people looking for work experience but just didn't fancy it.
Hope you get someone.

Its got to be worth a try. My husband is registered as an assistant for holiday times so he can care for our own children and my numbers not be affected. I won't be paying him but he still got his CRB done. I think it would have to be a long term assistant though - I can't see ofsted being happy doing new CRBs very often if work experience etc.
Hope it works out!

You could try contacting your local college John, they often get desperate for childcare training placements for their students, they would come with their own CRB too
