Hi
Can anyone tell me what you do in terms of planning and observations etc. for school age children. Is it a requirement to do this or not? At the moment I just write in activities in my diary and keep bits of craft etc for ofsted. I don't want more paperwork but don't want to get it wrong for ofsted either!

Once they are over 5, I just make sure I spend a bit of time each week writing something about what they've done, where they've been, what they've enjoyed etc I plan for them in the holidays but it's very flexible - it's more about proving to parents (if they asked) and Ofsted (when they come ) that they're expected and planned for Hope I'm doing it right! My planning is very flexible and depends on moods and ages and the weather of course
I usually have ideas / topics for the month that we do when we can
I then have a book and a folder for each child whatever their age I explain the topic we have done , make a few comments Comments that go together with the foundation stages for that age
Then add pics for evidence and also add some of the work we have done
I show this to Ofsted
It goes home with the child when they leave my setting
