I thought I had ordered them and am now in a bit of a panick as the Mother is here tomorrow at 9am and I thought I was prepared, but I dont feel I am.
Thank you for the swift reply though, sometimes you can feel very much on your own and this site is excellent.

Thanks, I'm so nervous and its my first definate children so any advice is appreciated.
The children speak very little English so I have an italian phrase book, but doubt that will help much.
Any idea where I can get some sample menu plans from?

Sorry Francesca - I would have replied but I was also rushing off to get ready to go to a meeting and didn't manage to log on again until now.
But I see that you have had loads of good advice from the laides on here already.

well she hasn't come back this morning and I'm a bit miffed as because the husband couldnt speak Enlish I let her take the policies booklet I had put together away with the contracts and info too.
I'm really annoyed and fed up, I've been registered since sep 2006 and had 2 days work since then.
aarrgghhh comes to mind.
Thank you all for the info though, it was really very helpful and I am ready for my next if I ever get one, long term enquiry.

Sorry it didn't work out francesca - where do you advertise? Have you thought about the local shops? I get a lot from there... or the school noticeboards locally.... or talk to the Health visitors one morning when they're doing their clinic and drop off some leaflets... or have you got a children's centre you can link up with? other minders are useful for passing on your details if they're full....
Make sure you update surestart every week with your vacancies - it pops you to the top of the list on the internet (look at other people's wording on their surestart adverts and make sure yours sounds the best!!) and talk to the library, some let you put up a small poster
Good luck! Sarahx

Hi Francesca
How are things ?
Just read your forum entry am sorry things didnt work out with the italian family, there loss hey!
Advertising does help, I put up notices in shop windows and the local hospital notice board and take aways etc sometimes the places you think less ikely for an advert to been seen are the best.
Give business cards to friends and family and ask them to put them in staff rooms and canteens etc
Let us know how its going and keep the faith

Sorry should have updated, she came back, big apologies and explanations so I am set to have them Sat and sunday and then full time from next weekend.
She was caught up getting lost for 5 hours around Edinburgh and as I havedone it myself for 90 mins I can well believe it.
I've offered to help, partly so I can get the 2.5yr old use to me as he is very wary understandably, and I thought hubby had gone back to Italy just for a few days but he has gone back for three months. I remember how difficult I found it too move up and I had transport she has nothing.
I am worried about keeping that line clear between childminder and parent, but the issues I have had today with her youngest has proved I need to do this to settle him, he spat at my daughter continously and then pulled her hair and took everything and anything off her. Dont get me wrong, his mother was horrified and I do think its jealousy and upset, he was told off by his mum and lots of apologies.
I cant leave her moving into a house with nothing and no transport so dont think I am doing too wrong.
So thats the outcome.
Thanks for the support though, its greatly appreciated, I was feeling down about it all and unsure with it.
I do have adverts everywhere and got a call yesterday too so fingers crossed I will be full asap.
