Can anyone help?
In your folder that you keep all your policies in do you have a child protection one ??
Is it correct that we must change this to 'Safeguarding Children Policy'. If so do we have to do it now or is this going to be happening in the future?
Just out of interest please
I have a Child Protection Policy and I notice that most childminders do too on their websites
Thanks everyone

You are right Angel, it has been changed to Safeguarding Children, you should also have some new booklets to replace your old green AC/PC Cards
I'll have a look and find out what they are called and where you get them from if you haven't got them.
Just off shopping now, will look when I get back.
I've also got a pdf of the new booklets

Right - you should have a booklet called "What to do if you're worried a child is being abused"
It's a small 31 page booklet produced by HM Government, if you haven't got one you can apply by quoting title: 31815/What to do if you're worried a child is being abused. Summary:
email: doh@prolog.uk.com
Or phone : 08701 555 455
Or write to: Department of Health Publications PO Box 777 London. SE1 6XH
I've also added a pdf version of the "Safeguarding Children' booklet produced by NCMA and NSPCC to the download section of the website.
Hope that helps

Also visit here and type in 'Safeguarding Children' to the search box - lots of interesting articles come up including various aspects of Safeguarding Children in specific areas such as illness, parents who fake their child's illness etc. www.dh.gov.uk

No there hasn't been anything sent out as far as I know. I only got to know about it because I'm involved with the briefing sessions around here and they were giving out the new booklets to the prospective new minders.

Have you received your new booklet everyone ?
It is now called "safeguarding children" and not child protection
Endorsed by the NSPCC, the guide covers; different kinds of child abuse and their possible signs
You can email ncma at info@ncma.org.uk with your membership number and address
Or call 020 8290 2410
You can also order one copy free from the NCMA website or download it

Or use the details Pauline gave further up the post !!
