Hi, Just found this site today, been on it for hours, so interesting and so much to learn. I sent my forms off to Offsted last Friday, and got a call today saying they are coming to visit next Thursday and will be here for a couple of hours. Can your give me any any ideas what to expect. I have been reading up on the National Standards, do I have to know all about the EYFS at this point. I have a large garden but a concrete section at the end, will they not approve of this? Also, I have a large patio area, which does have a drop on to grass. Would not leave young children unsupervised will this be enough or do you think it will fail. Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum do not forget to say hello and introduce yourself in the hello section
Hope you are enjoying it here
Is this your pre - reg visit I presume it is ?
I did not know they came out that soon what part of the country are you from ?
If you read through this area of the forum you will get the general idea of what you need to do
Regarding your garden they will not expect you to change things if you are already aware of the dangers and you prove this by explaining to Ofsted by doing risk assessment
Would the concrete be a danger to children - only you know the answer to this - if so what are you going to do about it ? The drop in your garden - is this dangerous?
I have a garden that is on 2 levels - there are steep steps for getting to the higher level - is this dangerous? Well of course it could be but children will be supervised at all times and will not be allowed to play on the steps If we do go up the steps it will be under my full supervision and we will use them as a educational game - counting etc
Catch my drift ?
If you need any more help give us a shout
Good luck next Thursday
Angel xx

Thanks Angel,
Thanks for advice, will do some more reading on this site. The concrete isn't dangerous, as kids do not use it, 80' of the garden is grass and it at the end of garden, I guess am just being a bit over anxious. I live in Welwyn in Hertfordshire, perhaps not many register this close to Christmas. Yes, it is the pre-register visit.
Again, like you I would not leave young children unsupervised in the garden, so hopefully it will be okay. Have a method in place should I need to fence it off.
Thanks
Maureen
