Hi there - you won't get any grading on this visit if its your very first visit. What they will do is go through your house, documents etc so the more prepared you can be the better. Have a look at "am I ready for my inspection" information.
What they will do is make recommendations etc that you will have to implement.
You will get your first proper inspection approx 6 months later and that is when you will get your grading.
Good luck and don't worry too much
xx

Get your Standards (and the Guidance) out and go through each standard one at a time and tick bits of as you meet each section and make notes (post its or in the margins) of how you are meeting or going to meet the criteria. This shows that you are reading your materials, understanding and attempting to implement procedure, identifying problems yourself and how to rectify...... Make sure you have all your documentation and paperwork in order to show them - identification, all crb docs (and those who live on the premises over 16)., have you got policies etc ready if you have you can show these They'll have a look at your premises and thats your opportunity to show that you know that perhaps you need a safety gate here, how you are going to this, that and the other, what equipment you do have, know you need (first aid kit, fire blanket). Another good tip (that shows your awareness of safety) ask for identification before you admit them to the premises!!! oh wow I am practising being a support childminder - I start end of the month properly!!!!

Good luck with your pre-reg visit - do you have a date yet?
Sarah - are you speaking from experience (about the baked beans)?
