hi all was just reading a thread somewhere about documuments and complaint forms and just thought I'd let you know what I do lol,
I have 2 notebooks that I leave by the door on my side table one is marked complaints and as well as using my complain form i let parents know that if they have something they want to complain about they can inform me and/or write it in the book.. the second notebook is marked compliments and i ask parents if they are happy with something e.g little jonny/jane never eats carrotts at home but does for you well done lol would they write it in the book as I dont see why Ofsted should get to moan about the little negatives when as childminders we do so much and are an invaluable service with ofsted trying to find fault at every step. ofsted actually thought this was a good idea and so do the parents and my compliments book is bulging but complaints is blank..
might not be of any help but thought I'd share it with you

hi michelle
i have a compliments/complaints book only problem is that parents seem to prefer to tell me the good stuff rather than write it down even though i keep reminding them !

lol I had the same prob at the start parents would forget to sign book now I actually ask them once a week if there is anything positive if so would they put it the book. after doing that for so long it seems to have stuck... also a good tip is to put the book near where the children get shoes and coats on cos then parents waiting will read notice board and fill in book... its just persistance and again write what is in the txts in book and ask parent to sign.. I also put in thank you cards etc.
