Hi Stacie
Please try not to panic too much, I can't offer you any advice myself but you will receive loads from the others and it will be fine I'm sure.
Saying that, I'll panic like mad when I'm in the same boat!!
Good luck.

Hi Stacie It's not that bad... honest! They want a snapshot of what you do, so no you can't specify days... they just turn up (you can usually get a feel for it though by saying when you're out!!) Be really calm and think about what you normally do in a day - you play with the children, change and feed them etc to a natural rhythm of their needs so keep that going and don't try to be superwoman! It's little things people forget like wiping hands after nappy changes and not showing all your evidence, so have it all easily accessible and get into really good routines now so it's all second nature when there's a visitor in the house The parents are obviously happy with you or they wouldn't send their children to you - so you're doing it right and Ofsted will see that Sarahx

Hi Stacie
I agree with Sarah
If you are doing everything right then do not panic
Be yourself and you can not go far wrong
If you need help with anything in particular though you know where we are

Hi Stacie
Sarah's given you some great advice.
Get all your evidence together - all child records, parents brochure, certificates, policies, photos, thankyou letters etc - anything that shows how your childminding business works and give it to the inspector when he/she arrives then just get on with doing what you usually do.
The inspector will be able to look through your stuff, observe you and ask any questions they need to.
Above all try not to worry - you'll be absolutely fine!!
Good luck

I am also in the same boat as you. Ofsted were due begin Sept but i'm still waiting but soon I have another mindee start who will be 6 months old. I also look after a 1 year old & my 2 year old daughter. If they ring just as new 1 starts im thinking of asking them If they would mind leaving it a while longer, until he settled & we got routines etc, or just saying the days when I have all of them that we are out at toddlers etc & see if they will come when it's quieter! I too am dreading it!

Yeah i worried myself stupid when i had my pre inspection and that was nowhere near as bad as i was expecting it to be. theres just so much you have to do and with little one who dont understand they behaviour really depends on the day not like my 3 yr old i could quite easily sit him doing painting whilst ofsed came thats what i mainly worried about coz sumtimes i do get flustered and they are all crying at same time etc and i just dont want ofsted to see me at an off moment lol plus i have no clue about written work i should have to show them do i need to do a risk assesment every week and file it?

Do not worry so much Stacie you will be fine
If children are naughty when Ofsted come on who cares I am sure Ofsted see loads of naughty children a day it is how you deal with it that is the key Show that you can deal with it by distracting the child or giving lots of hugs - sometimes none of that works but it is not a reflection on you at all Just continue about your day very much in the way you would if the inspector was not there
They are only human at the end of the day ( Well most of them anyway ha )
There is lots of ideas about paper work and risk assesments on the forum you just need to go through them and I am sure you will find out lots of info
Let us know when you hear anything
