Hi
Just wondering if any of you childminders out there could help me. I'm due my ofsted in November and I think I am ready but then I go and think of something else that I could or should do !
At the moment I'm worrying about what kind of activities to do on the day - dont want anything too involved if he/she will want to speak to me and also i'm worried I will forget to either do or tell them something important.
Most of the other minders in my area have had one of the new style inspections and have had varying reports, hopefully I have done all the things that they have advised me to do, is ther anything that you would advise me to do or not do ?

Hi cheyl1 - I've got a friend in High Peak - lovely part of the world! I wouldn't worry about what activities to do - it's all about going with the children's interests so see what they are wanting to do and plan for that - though if there's a festival or celebration near the time, you could have some planning sorted for that I do themes every week but you wouldn't particularly notice they're happening, I incorporate them into what the children want to do... they were interested in circus activities cos the circus was in town last week so we did clowns and shapes, made a big top, did some plate spinning etc.... just planned to their interests really I would have some playdough in the cupboard ready, lots of craft stuff the children can get on with while you're answering questions and getting out files, a list of what activities you do over an average month and waffle on about how they took an interest in a squirrel / tree / flower etc this morning on the school run so you're planning round that today! Have a look here for ideas for fulfilling the standards.. I put this on silkysteps after my inspection last month - hope it helps www.silkysteps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2811Sarahx

Fab work as always Sarah. You don't fancy doing a Welsh version do you? Only joking of course.
Sorry I can't help Cheryl but haven't been in your situation yet. I am sure the others will give lots of advice.

That's brilliant - is it an example of an operational document that was mentioned on another thread?
Is it okay if I use it as a template to work with for my setting please?

It was posted to be shared so please do lorri! I sell what i write specifically for selling on my website and via ebay - the rest is shared...... though sometimes I share bits of what I write for selling and confuse myself totally.... bfriend says I'm a soft touch! I think nurseries call them 'operational plans' - thought that sounded a bit grand for little old me! There is an operational plan on silkysteps too.... Sarahx
