Thank god thats over! The inspector said if she wasn't here by 10 ahe wasn't coming today, so at 9.55 I had just started to relax when a car drew up! YIkes! Bearing in mind Hubby had to take our 2yr old to A&E as she hurt her foot yesterday & was still hobbling & crying with pain this morning so day hadn't had a calm start!
She was here for 2hrs, didn't ask a lot of questions as I have very comprehensive policies etc. She did say as I was striving for outstanding (self evaluation) she would be picky!
She found a couple of things in my paperwork, my emergency contacts are seperate from child records so I can take them out with me but she wanted it recorded in the records as well.
The children went to get themselves a drink & then asked for snacks & I forgot to send them to wash hands DOH - I knew I would do that!
She was impressed with the snack though - I gave them a flexiboard each and a banana, oatcake & honey & they chopped banana themselves and put snack together.
She picked a couple of holes in my behaviour management policy - wanted more emphasis on positive discipline, ie distraction & praise etc - which is what I do but it wasn't clear enough in policy.
My daughter came back with a clean bill but still hobbling & yelling so that added more fun!
We did a bear hunt in the garden, I was trying to act out the story with the children but Nat was yelling every few seconds despite me picking her up so I gave up & sat down with her & read the story out while the children did the rest - we had put up our tent for the cave but 'N' went in & pinched the bear out right at the start lol!
So all in all it was chaos but she was very impressed, said it was hard enough to get 'good' for a 1st inspection but she was awarding me 'good in all areas and 'Outstanding' in one! She also said I was very close to Outstanding in all areas just the few things to ammend!
I am pleased but kicking myself for the hand washing - I knew I would do that even though we always do it normally!
Still at least I can bring the ironing out of hiding now lol
