Hi everyone Have my first CSSIW inspection coming up soon. I have filled in the forms and given out the parent questionaires, cleaned my house, updated my policies, done my risk assessment.
Now I am just scared!!
I don't know if it is the same in England as Wales - I have read on this site that they ring you before they come but I am not sure if it is the same here.
Anyway if you can think of anything I haven't done please please remind me.
Thanks xx

Hi Holly
It sounds like you have everything under control and I am sure you will do just fine
There is a lot of advice on the forum too so just take a little time to read through some of it you will find loads of good tips and hints here
Not sure if they call and let you know first in Wales but I am sure someone will answer that question

Hi Just to explain - my real name is Holly, I registered on the forum as Polly (nickname in school) seems silly now as I have put my website on here which has my real name on anyway!!!! It seemed like a good idea at the time Just some quick questions - been reading some of your excellent inspection reports and was wondering about contact numbers I have parents contact numbers stuck on wall by my house phone, also logged into my mobile (which is in my pocket all the time when minding) and also have them with all the confidential stuff and contracts. Is this enough? Also I have my first aid box in my kitchen cupboard - do I need to hang it on wall so it is seen? Do I need contact numbers in the first aid box? Hope you can help xx

I would say you have it covered with them being on the wall but I would put the 1st aid box where it can be seen - so that if you yourself were injured & someone had to help then they could find it easliy. I have mine on top of the fridge.

New regulations for the eyfs - p26 statutory guidance - 'providers should keep prescribed medicines in a locked non-portable container (except where storage in a fridge is required).... a record should be kept for audit and safety purposes' Doesn't say where first aid kit should be stored though Good luck!! Just relax and be yourself..... Sarahx

Update!!
Inspector came yesterday - no phone call, all my kids ( I have 4) were still off school because it was training day, my house was an absolute tip, with washing everywhere (trying to get uniform sorted)
She turned up when I was out - and my son answered the door (I had gone out to pick up a baby) she then left and must have parked round the corner somewhere.
My kids then started frantically ringing me but I was driving, I rang back and set them cleaning!!
Once I got home she rang me and asked if she could come.
My youngest and mindee age 3 had made a huge den in the middle of the living room and were sat reading books under a blanket - they were soooo good!!
She basically just watched me with the children and asked a few questions about how I let the parents know what we have been doing all day. I asked whether we are graded like you are in England and she said no - she just produces a report based on the information I gave her in my forms and what she saw whilst she was here. I was a bit disappointed at first but actually I think that its a good thing.
She loved all my photo boards and said the parents did too.
She said the parents had said really nice things about me in their questionaires so that was good.
Any way glad it is over - it wasn't half as bad as I expected!
Holly xx

Well done Holly. I sometimes think an unexpected visit like that is better than having a few days notice to panic and fret and lose sleep over it! Glad it went well for you

Well done Holly.
My friend informed me today that here the CSSIW give you a three month slot in which they will visit for your inspection and thats the only warning you get. Yikes!!!

Yes thats right Amanda,
I got some forms to fill in - like a self assessment really and I had to write out a timetable of what children I had different days and when I went to playgroup etc
Also had parent questionaires to hand out
Then you just have to wait and they say they will just turn up with in 3 months of recieving the forms back.
I won't get another inspection for 2 yrs now phew!!!

Well done, I like the idea of them just turning up, saves all the sleepness nights.
I am waiting for my 1st inspection. They rang about 3 weeks ago to see if I was minding & what days/times and said an ispector will ring soon. I'd wish they'd hurry & come.
