Hello!
Got my call today and they are coming anytime next week apart from Monday, reading through things, making sure everything is in place etc. In a lot of posts I notice B23 matters mentioned, when I registered (Sept 2006) I was told it was good to look through but not compulsory but so many of you seem to have been asked about it by inspectors!! I ordered a copy when I registered but never received anything!! Help.
Katrina.

Don't panic Katrina! Just about everything you need to know about B23 is in the section on here called (would you believe ) Birth to Three! Angel has done loads of information that should help you. However, it will die out once the EYFS come into force so if I were you I would start concentrating more on activities that encompass the EYFS components and cover birth to 5 years Good luck next week, let us know how it goes.

Hi Katrina I would recomend looking at what Angel has written on BTTM she makes it simple to understand.
Good luck with inspection i think we all feel when its over it wasn't as bad as we thought, the inspectors are usually very nice and helpful.

I see, so when I registered (Sept 2006) it wasn't compulsory - no-one informed me Jan 2007 that it had become compulsory!! I don't know what to do, I have read through angels posts and to be honest I am still confused. Does anyone have any example sheets they can email me? My inspection could be anytime this coming week so need to get it understood and sorted out this afternoon!! Aaaarrrggghhh!! Why did no-one tell me? Who should have informed me? Ofsted? My local CIS? I feel like complaining to someone as this isn't fair, how I am supposed to do it if no-one tells me?! Grrrrr...

When I did my DHC course back in Feb-April 07 I was also told that it was not compulsary until Sept 2008! I got loads of useful info & downloadable forms from the Bromley website.

Try not to worry, I had my inspection yesterday and although I had a few activities written down that incorporated birth to 3, the inspector asked very little about it, she asked a few questions about what i do with the children etc and said that it covered birth to 3 anyway

Hi Katrina
Do not panic you will be fine I am sure
Everyone has given you good advice
I guess you want some examples on not how to use Birth to Three but on how you have been using it ?
Do you use diarys or something else for the children you mind?
You have not been using it so obviously you want to show to Ofsted that you have ??
What age are the children you have ?
If you do want any more information I will help if I can although I am not an expert I might have a sample sheet you can use
Just pm if you want any information or if you want me to send you anything
Please do not worry you will be fine
Angel xx

Hello! Sorry I have been so long replying, been SOOO busy this week! Anyway I got 3 areas Outstanding and 2 good so an overall grade of GOOD!! HOORAY!! I am VERY pleased with that, I kinda bluffed the birth to three bit, I said I write down some observations in the daily diary (which I do but not in detail) and that to be honest I am preparing for EYFS so not spent much time on B23 - she seemed happy with that. Thanks for all the advice. xx
