Hello to you all
I must admit I have been lurking for quite a while reading all your posts, but now have to post one of my own.
Ofsted rang last week to say my inspection will be one of two days next week.
Have all policies in place and feel all paperwork is up to date, posters on walls etc just wanted to ask if there was anything else I may have forgot that you could think of.
This will be my first inspection since being registered last summer so I am very nervous.
Another problem I may have is that one of the days Ofsted have said they may come I may not have any mindees as mum told me today they may be going on a long weekend.............so do I just go with the flow and allow Ofsted to come or do I notify them if they have not come on the first day they said, so as they know I will not have any mindees other thatn my own?
Sorry a lot of questions but my head is spinning with all the to do's and not to do's atm t he moment.

Hi
Welcome to the forum - love your username.
In your shoes I would try and put them off on the day that you won't be minding as the highest grade an inspector can award is 'Satisfactory' if a minded child is not present at the time of inspection.
Some inspectors are ok about this and are willing to try to change their days and others aren't - it really is pot luck but it might be worth a try.
Good luck
Dee

Hi, Let OFSTED know about day that you may not have any minded kids, as if they turn up and decide to proceed the highest grade you can get is Satisfactory.
Make sure you ask to see their ID.
Relax - as it's not aLL THAT BAD. I WAS SHAKING WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR TO MY INSPECTOR, BUT ONCE IT ALL GOT STARTED, I WONDERED WHY I HAD SPENT THE PREVIOUS NIGHT WRACKED WITH WORRY!!!
Good Luck - Let us know how it goes:)

Hi and welcome I agree with the others, do let Ofsted know as soon as possible that the days you have children have changed, and they will probably either avoid that day or suggest another one. It doesn't seem fair that you can be downgraded when children not turning up is out of your control. I was told by an ex-Ofsted inspector that they are told that if they consider the minder can prove well enough what they do then they should give a good and not automatically go for a satisfactory, bu they all interpret the rules differently. Make sure you also have all your emergency forms and contact details in your bag to show that you carry them around with you all the time. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

hi and welcome!! Sounds like you have the paperwork side up together. yes, definately let Ofsted know that you will not have a minded child on one of the days, Some little pointers - DO NOT let them eat a single thing without washing their hands first!! - I had my hygeine routines questioned as didnt wash hands before a biscuit and then it was mentioned in my inspection report. Make sure to lock the door behind the inspector. Be sure to wipe changing mat/table with antibac after you use it. Know about your local procedures for child protection and 'what to do' Your attendance record needs to be exact arrival and departure times (not billing times) Be prepared to answer questions about Equal opps, and promoting safety, and hygeine routines. There are quite a lot of us who have recently been inspected - mine was last month and so there is loads of info in the threads under inspections. Good luck!

hi and welcome
good luck from me too. I had my inspection about a month ago, so I know what you mean about head spinning. I was a nervous wreck, but it all went ok.

No she did not come I was sooo organised, the mindess were all in good moods and doing all text book things I was so disapointed. So this morning I shall be ringing up to see if I can make an alternative date as it is no point in her coming on Friday as I will have no mindees. Will keep you all informed, and thanks so much for all your support you have been stars in keeping me level headed at this stressful time. xx

That's a shame, typical that everything was going well too!
Hope you manage to rearrange it.
