Pre reg ofsted visit - help i'm nervous

Hi ya everyone,

I'm a newbie i came across this website as i was googling for policies and decided to have a nosey as i wanted to prepare for my ofsted pre reg visit. I'm getting nervous as i don't know what kind of questions to prepare for if anyone can be greatful in suggesting what questions they were asked etc i would be sincerely thankful.

I'm currently typing up my policies and a handbook for parents so i can present all this to the inspecter and try to look professional and know what i'm talking about rather than ranting on
Anyway all help and suggestions will be greatful

Hi and welcome

There are quite a few people on here who have just gone through pre-reg visits so I'm sure they will be ale to offer some advice.

I think you are doing the right thing in preparing your polices and looking professional.

Have a look around the house and try to see any areas that the inspector might pick up on as not safe enough, i.e. garden safety has been a big feature lately, check for poisonous plants, unsafe footpaths etc.

It's hard not to be nervous but the inspectors are there to help you and are usually very kind and helpful.

Hiya,,, Welcome to the forum, hope to see you around......First of all please try not to worry, easier said than done!!! I had my ofsted pre reg visit recently and couldnt sleep, I was so worried.....It was fantastic, the lady was so lovely, very relaxed

She focused a lot on Child protection/Safeguarding children ...Give this a read..

Health, what meals? do you have a food handling certificate? will you get one? Hand washing, nappy changing, toileting

Safety, how will you keep children safe in your home? out and about?

Special needs, would you consider a child with educational an/or physical difficulties, we all have to consider every child if we have the spaces, however ofsted only expect you to make reaonable adjustment to your home etc, some childminders dedicate a space/spaces to children who need extra help

I was told not to work from birth to 3 too much as it will all change later this year, however I needed to show what activities I would do with 0-3's

What activities for older children?

What local attractions, ie, parks, leisure centres are there?

Discipline?

Do you have any policies in place? You dont have to have them written up yet but Ive had a lot of time on my hands and have enjoyed getting it sorted

Like I say you DO NOT need these, but she was impressed at all the things in place
