Can anyone tell me what is meant by having knowledge of your 'Local Safeguarding Children's Board procedures' Are you just required to know that these exist and that they are their to protect children. Or does each area have it's own procedure. I've searched the web and have found websites relating to 'Local Safeguarding Children's Board procedures' but none of them outline what their 'procedure' is. Hope someone can help me have a better understanding of this. Cheers Katharine

I was given a booklet on my DHC course which contained the relevant information on our local area.
If you call your local CIS and ask for a safegaurding children/child protection procedure for whatever your district is then they should be able to send you the correct info.
Hope that helps a bit. Maybe others have better info

The 'procedure' is knowing what to do and who to contact if you have concerns about a child. You should have a list of who you should contact if you suspect abuse/have concerns.
You should have phone numbers of your Local Children’s Social Care and Emergency Duty Team (for out of hours)
Like Lana says, if you contact CIS they should be able to send you more information or at least give you the numbers.
