Inspector and colleague turned up at 9.20 and stayed for about 2 hrs 20 mins. I was surprised at the number of questions they asked me. I now keep thinking of things i should have said but I suppose i said enough to get good. One of the things she really liked was the song we sing when washing our hands. Asked the children to sing but they wouldn't so I had to - how embarrasing, I am an awful singer!! About half way through I thought i was only going to get satisfactory due to children going wild and me not being able to control situation. They decided to tip out hundreds of shiny bits all over the carpet, and throw the feather and pom poms all over the playroom. I thought great how am i meant to control this situation in front of ofsted! Another question I thought I would be marked down on was "how do i ensure children make a positive contribution to the community and setting" I cant even remember how i answered this, or even if I did at all. If i needed some thinking time I would focus on the children for a minute. I got in about the children washing hands after nappy change - so thanks for that Lana! She asked me if i was using birth to three, I said I was but only started obs in february. showed her the little boys file and explained that i would like to go on more courses about it but they have all been cancelled due to new early years foundation. She said it was good that i was using framework, so thanks very much to Angel, and everyone who helped me with that! My head is still spinning! I did ramble on a lot but as i said earlier I obviously said the right thing and was very pleased to only get one recommendation
Anyway, there I was feeling extremely proud of myself especially as it's my first inspection and the little girls Dad came to collect her. I told him ofsted had been he just said "oh" . then he said, " did they say anything or do you have to wait for a report or something" I said, " they've given me a judgement of good" and then explained to him the four judgements and that only a very small percentage of childminders get outstanding, he said "I suppose you'd have to be teaching them as well, get your shoes on X) So there was no well done or anything. I just felt so pXXXXd off and why do I even bother to put so much hard work into it.
thankyou all for the help, goodluck wishes and well dones.
