Hi First of all please try not to worry, easier said than done!!! I had my ofsted pre reg visit yesterday and couldnt sleep, I was so worried.....It was fantastic, the lady was so lovely, very relaxed She focused a lot on Child protection/Safeguarding children ...Give this a read.. childmindinghelp.co.uk/download/safeguardingchil.htmlHealth, what meals? do you have a food handling certificate? will you get one? Hand washing, nappy changing, toileting Safety, how will you keep children safe in your home? out and about? Special needs, would you consider a child with educational an/or physical difficulties, we all have to consider every child if we have the spaces, however ofsted only expect you to make reaonable adjustment to your home etc, some childminders dedicate a space/spaces to children who need extra help I was told not to work from birth to 3 too much as it will all change later this year, however I needed to show what activities I would do with 0-3's With great thanks to Angel I showed her the activities for A Healthy Child, A Skilful Communicator, A strong Child, A Competent Learner... childminding.proboards102.com/index.cgi?board=b23What activities for older children? What local attractions, ie, parks, leisure centres are there? Discipline? Do you have any policies in place? You dont have to have them written up yet but Ive had a lot of time on my hands and have enjoyed getting it sorted ;D Contracts/holiday/communication hourly rate/holiday notice/sickness/payment of fees childs developement complaints proceedure Admission and opening times Fees Working in partnership with Parents Equal Opportunities Special needs behaviour management health and safetry sickness physical contact hygiene safeguarding children administering meds accident and incident no smoking/alcohol fire plan confidentiality Like I say you DO NOT need these, but she was impressed at all the things in place If you need any help at all, please give me a shout And remember..just be yourself and relax Take care xx

Louise has given you really excellent advice.
Just relax and dont worry about it. The pre reg is nerve racking before you have it, the same as any visit, but its nothing to worry about. If there are any points you need to change then you get sent an action letter and you just have to write back and say how you have rectified it and then they register you. I had this problem as I had left my washing powder by the side of my washing machine on the floor at my pre reg. Instead of just letting me pop it back in the cupboard I had to have it as an action and write back to them and tell them it was back in the cupboard out of the reach of children. A bit extreme but thats the rules. So all im saying is dont stress yourself about it because I sent the letter next day recorded delivery on a tuesday, was obviously waiting on my crb checks anyway so it made no difference to the length of time my application took.
Anyway, I am sure you will be fine.
Good luck and we're all here to help
xx

I do NOT use upstairs but when she came round she had a look to make sure it was safe!! I asked why as im only using downstairs and she said " If you have to go upstairs to get something YOUR NOT GOING TO LEAVE THE CHILDREN DOWNSTAIRS WITHOUT SUPERVISION!! I thought that was fair enough !! Hope that helps Kate xx

Yeah thats right,
I didnt want to register the spare room as it is more of a junk room than anything, So when she wanted to look in there I was horrified!!! Luckily we had given it a bit of a tidy just incase but still didnt want her looking lol
