I've been registered since Dec 06 (have been minding since mid Feb) & had Ofstead call on Friday to tell me that they're coming next week (Tues, Thurs or Friday). I'm panicking like mad already! Can anyone help me & tell me what I need ready? I'll have my attendance book, contracts, policies etc but dont know what else I'll need.
I have no idea what activities to do on the day they come. I will have my own daughter (18 months) & depending on the day they choose either or both of my mindees (11 months & 22 months). If they pick a day when I have the 22 month old we can do painting, sticking etc but the 11 month old spends quite a lot of her time with me sleeping. Am hoping the wheather will be nice as we had some decking put in the garden last week so the children will be able to play out there.
I also dont think Ive got enough policies. Is there a checklist anywhere to make sure Ive got the policies I should have?
Thanks in advance, Clare

Don't panic!! Have a look at the post Angel did this morning called Ofsted - the standards (I think) it's in the policies, procedures and paperwork section. That should help as a sort of check list to start with.

Hello Clare
Yes read the list that I put up earlier ( thanks Pauline for giving that a mention ) Also if you read some of the other posts everyone has give loads of information on inspections I think I put a cookery activity on the one thread - making pizza
If you have a good look through I am sure you will come up with lots of advice that will help you through
If none of it is what you are looking for then give a shout and we will help whatever way we can
Do not panic you will be ok
I think you have the main things covered anyway with your policies etc
There are lots of activity's on the activity thread also
Let us know what you decide to do and we can help you along and give you some support
Angel xx

Thank you for the advice girls.
Ofsted were due last Tues, Thurs or Friday. I spent all of Easter weekend getting myself up & together & was just about ready for Tuesday morning. Tuesday came & went, then I had a funny feeling they would be coming on Thursday. Didnt start minding until 10 on Thursday then the phone went at 10 to 10 - it was the inspector telling me she was unwell. She's now on holiday for a couple of weeks & will be coming on Thurs (3rd) Fri (4th) or Tues (8th May).
Thanks to your fantastic website & help Im feeling a lot more prepared & relaxed than I otherwise would have been.
Noticed that there are quite a few of us due inspections in the next few weeks & just wanted to wish everyone luck xx
