Hi - first post so bare with me. I am a childminder - and going to be moving house shortly - i understand i have to notify ofsted. Will they shut me down until they do another check of new property or can i send them a risk assessment and continue to care? It all has come at a bad time as i am away for a 2 week holiday (1st one of this length!) and then the house move will be shortly after - really don't want to inconvenience the families too much. Any help or anyone that has been through a move - i would love to hear from. xxxx

I moved house 18 months ago and I notified Ofsted a few weeks before I moved of my new address. They sent me a new certificate with my new address on and said I couldn't start minding till the new cert arrived (it arrived plenty of time before I moved so that was okay). They said I should just ensure my home was safe and secure and that I would have the house checked at my next inspection. I have not heard from Ofsted since I moved and my inspection is not due until this summer so I have been in my new house nearly2 years and they haven't been to see me. Just make sure you notify them of your new address and a moving date and risk assess your house yourself which you would do anyway, sure you'll be fine. Victoria

That's interesting Victoria, according the the Ofsted details I've got they are supposed to either visit the new home immediately or within 6 months of you moving! Looks like they forgot you!!
