1. Roll on your side down a grassy bank
2. Make a mud pie
3. Make your own modeling dough
4. Collect frogspawn
5. Make perfume from flower petals
6. Grow cress on a window sill
7. Make a paper mache mask
8. Build a sandcastle
9. Climb a tree
10. Make a den in the garden
11. Make a painting using hands and feet
12. Organise your own teddy bears picnic
13. Have your face painted
14. Bury a friend in the sand
15. Make some bread
16. Make snow angels
17. Create a clay sculpture
18. Take part in a scavenger hunt
19. Camp out in the garden
20. Bake a cake
21. Feed a farm animal
22. Pick some strawberries
23. Play pooh sticks
24. Recognise five different species
25. Find some worms
26. Ride a bike through a muddy puddle
27. Make and fly a kite

I know that's what I thought when I read it. I can honestly say reading each one of those brought back lovely memories. How many of todays kids will look back in 20 years time and think how they have such fond memories of playing on the playstation!!I am going to make it my mission to ensure my children get to experience all of these. Although it may be too late for Jess, she is nearly 15 and is way too cool to be doing things like this!!

A few years ago a friend of mine (also a childminder) came across this list in a newpaper article (sure I still got it somewhere) and we made a concious decision to go through the list with our children (own & minded).

We had fantastic amount of fun doing so although I don't think we managed to do every single one of them!!

It's to do with Winnie the Pooh.

You stand on a bridge drop sticks in water run to other side and watch them float down stream. Doesn't sound too exciting for an adult but if you relate it to the story the kids love it.

Funny you should also ask about this one - check out page 9 of Who Minds? shows West Sussex childminders doing this with their mindee's

my 14 year old daughter "slept" on top of a church steeple last week to raise money for charity, she was up there with our friend the vicar and her daughter aged 11
Juliet the vicar had taken up a bucket for them to pee in while they were there (18 hours) and alex declared after having her 5th pee of the night that she had done two of the things on her list of what she wanted to do before she died

1 sleep on top of a church( strange that we're jewish) and
2 pee in a bucket.

How easily she's pleased.

last night she ate worms, ants and ant eggs. on a survival course with the youth hostel assosciation.
she says her list of things to do before she dies is complete x
