Hi everyone
Wondered if anyone has had to chase up a parent who has left owing four week notice period.
Recently had a parent who found alternative child care over a shift pattern without going too much into detail. She then complained to Ofsted about me saying i had breeched her confidentiality.
Anyway after i wrote to Ofsted they were quite happy with my letter and wrote back saying no action will be taken.
Fact still remains that she owes over four hundren pounds!
Written to her once and not followed up yet because was waiting for Ofsted reply.
HELP!
p.s. I am insured with Morton Michel

I would phone Morton Micheal and ask for their advice as I'm with the NCMA and it may be different, but I would persue the money if it was me, it's alot to loose and she obviously signed the contract agreeing to this.

Morton Michel will help you - and they've just lowered their limits for amounts you can claim so you're covered there as well Sarahx

i am currently taking clients to court for this exact same thing. the mum decided to cut down the days, i said i needed 4 weeks notice, so then i get a call late one night saying she is not bringing the girl anymore. i sent invoice for 4 weeks outstanding, and she wrote back eventually saying she had no money and wasn't paying. I am with NCMA who have been amazing - it is quite lengthy - i have an open shut case as i have a contract etc etc. i also followed all the appropriate channels ie. send a few letters with the invoice, stating terms of contract etc, send it recorded delivery, and make sure you put on the top of all letters 'without prejudice' therefore unadmissable in court unless you want them to be. however, this has been going on since beginning of august and not likely to be settled until next year!

Hi,
I've never had this situation (yet), but I would think you could take it to a small claims court to recover the money. As suggested, speak to MF for advice. As long as you had contract signed, then you should be able to do something.
good luck! Lisa x

I've got a parent who's doing this to me - she claims that she's in debt and got no money to pay me for the notice - so what i've decided to do from now on is the charge 4 weeks notice period in advanmce with two weeks advance fee. - that way if they leave the notice fee would have already been paid.
