Hi can anyone help me understand, when a child reaches the age of 3 and they quailfiy for the free pre school places, how do the childminders go about being able to keep that child and use the free places with me the childminder? As i have had a few parents wanting me to kepp their child up until they go to school but they want to use the free places
can any one help?

To be able to claim the NEG you have to be an accredited Childminder and I think you have to be on an Accredited network to do this

if this is the early entitlment (rising threes) your talking about in wales you have to be an accredited minder on a network. you can claim £340 per term but must be able to offer 2hrs for 5 days or 2 1/2hrs over 4 days during term time and it commences the term after the child's 3rd birthday either Jan or April. as far as i am aware you deduct the £340 from fees so in the first term we have ten weeks so it'll be £34 per week, summer term there's fourteen weeks so its about £24 per week. i don't know if it's paid in a lump sum inadvance or not though and then the parents pay the difference.
