What percentage do you charge for a retainer fee?
I want to charge a percentage of what the parent's childcare bill would be on a normal working week. What would be deemed as reasonable? Obviously I don't want to price myself out of the market but on the other hand I still have overheads.
Can anyone give me some guidance on this? Many, many thanks.

I think lots of people operate in different ways. I have charged one off deposits so that the parent doesn't disappear but that suited me at the time. I'm sure there will be someone along with more info but I know childminders who charge up to half

I think it is up to yourself
Like Mel I charge a deposit because it suits me
If you read through some of the posts in this section you will get some idea of what people charge for a retainer etc

This one is really up to you but
you should only charge a retainer if a place is available but not needed yet and then the child should be able to use the place perhaps for settling in visits.
I'm like Angel, I tend to charge a deposit which I would keep if the parent changed their mind and didn't take up the place
If someone comes to see you who is pregnant NCMA advise that no arrangements are made until after the baby is born
