Hello. I'm new to this forum so i'll just introduce myself a little before i ask my question. My name is Kelly and i'm wanting to get registered as a childminder as i gave birth to my baby boy 4 months ago and from now on i want to be at home to raise him but we also need me to be earning a wage so i think that childminding will give us the best of both worlds. I worked in a nursery for 2 years prior to my pregnancy and achieved an nvq level 2 in children's care, learning and development. I loved working with the kids but didn't like the day nursery set up as it all seemed to be about the owner making money and not about the children. Can't wait to be my own boss!!!
So here's my question; I've looked around at what my competition as in local nurseries and childminders charge but for a wider idea i just wondered if the childminders on here who live and work in Northern England as i do, could tell me what you charge? Per hour, per session, per day, per week and so forth??? Also, do your charges include meals or do you charge extra???
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Kelly xx

Welcome To The Forum
Every one is different and its what suits you better.
I personally charge a session rate , a day rate and an optional hourly rate, I charge a months fees ina dvance which count as the 4 week termination period when the contract is terminated, I ask for and give 4 weeks notice of holidays and charge full fee for mindees but no fee for mine

Hi Kelly and welcome to the forum! The best place to look is your local Children's Info service adverts - pretend you're looking for a childminder in your area and read their ads! Lots put on their prices - here's my local one - if the link doesn't work, copy and paste the whole thing! www.childcarelink.gov.uk/whitebox/mapsearch.asp?cisid=5054&mapid=344Sarahx

I charge an hourly rate that includes drinks and snacks, extra is lunch and dinners (parents are welcome to provide their own otherwise).
Round Darlo - the majority rate seems to be around £3 ph - although I think people will start looking at putting their prices up with the onslaught of mandatory training (to a level 3) and al the extra admin and planning that EYFS will bring.
