Bank Holidays and how to charge

As there are 3 bank holidays over christmas/new year - do you normally charge and if so what.
My situation is that I have one contract which is term time only and the other is all year (exc. holidays of course). With the term time only contract, I charge a retainer only when I'm working, not when I'm on holiday - which I will be over Christmas - do I charge for the 3 bank holidays? If so, would it be normal hourly rate or half this?
Also, my fee for the other parent is half the weekly amount when I'm on holiday so again, do I charge bank holiday and would it be the full hourly rate or half?
Very confused about this as haven't been doing the job long enough to work out what to do surrounding these holiday.

I dont work bank holidays therefore i dont charge as i only charge when i am available for work.

I've put christmas down in my standard contracts as a specific holiday, charging 1/2 fees from xmas eve to new years day. I also close at easter at 1/2 fees for 1 week. Other bank holidays I charge full fees though.

I have some older children on term-time only contracts who don't pay anything in the holidays, so they won't pay anything for xmas either, including the bank holidays. I have under fives on term-time only contracts who pay 1/2 fees through the holidays so they'll be paying 1/2 fees for the whole school holiday including the bank holidays. I only charge full fees on bank holidays for those that would be contracted to attend on those days.

I don't work bank holidays so I don't charge for them, but I know some that do.

Like Lorraine and custardcream I do not work them so I don't charge for them but if I worked them then it would be my weekend charge of £5 and hour.

I will work bank hols but dont charge them as standard into the contracts. I charge £6 an hour for bank hols but only if parents still require the care

hi, if i am contracted for a day a bank holiday falls on i charge the full fee and as the parant gets paid for bh then so do i and i do not work them. hope this makes sence. why should we not benifit just a little, as i work out my fees pro rata they pay the same every month.

I do not work them so do not charge

I have worked them in the past so have charged but only for the parents that required them

Lucky for everyone who gets paid still - think I must be doing something wrong haha

If it's a contracted day then I get paid whether I work it or not.

If I do work then it's double time.

Parents don't normally ask me to mind on bh , I wonder why

I must admit I charge my normal hourly rate on BH but if I get asked to work it I charge double aswell. I'm really suprised I haven't been asked to work it too! Mind you I don't think my husband would like it.

I generally dont work bank hols unless a parent really wants me to and then it would just the normal rate.

Only exception is Christmas when I've never charged - may change this this year though as one parent has really bugged me by saying, in front of her children, that she would cancel her leave on christmas eve and send the children to me rather than have to pay me if she took the time off (her contract is school hols only Mondays and tuesdays and she has to pay if she takes leave but i don't charge her for my hols).

Whatever you decide make sure it's clear in your contract

Hello i offer the service to all customers but at a higher rate of £6.00 an hour if they do require my service and for those that fall on bank holiday days who i would normally mind i charge the normal days fees if i dont care for them. I thought i would offer the service and then if i didnt want to work them or had plans could just book it off as holiday.

I charge full pay for all bank holidays but do not work i do not charge for any of my holidays all the childminders in my area charge full ay for 4 weeks.
I charge full pay for all the parents holidays.
I dont charge for mine i know i am soft but i always think that they might have to pay someone else and i dont think it is fair to have to pay twice

I do not work BH but I do charge full fee if they fall on a contracted day. I have school children who are on term time only contracts, therefore I will not charge them for the BH' s that fall over Xmas.

You need to refer to your contract, if you negotiated full fee for BH's you will be able to charge that, if I had I would charge full even though I was on holiday.

I charge for all Bank Holidays except for Xmas & Boxing Day.

I used to work all bank hols for normal fee. I dont work them now . Think I must be getting harder as I used to work all the time for the same fee (bank hols, evenings, weekends etc) I must of been soft ? Mind you I just used let everyone walk over me. My husband said just because I loved my job it did not mean I should do it for next to nothing and he was right.

I get paid full pay for all bank holidays its probably one of the few perks i get i would never work on a bank holiday except obviously in an emergency.

I charge for bank holidays that fall on their cxontracted days, dont charge for xcmas days as dont work.
