ie i've stated that i need 4 weeks notice in advance if a parent is to take holidays otherwise i'll charge full fee - is this correct or have i just made it up?
do you ask for a period of notice and how much and what do you charge if you don't get it?

I also ask for notice but as I charge full fee for their holiday its always a bonus to be less busy so I'm not too hung up on it.
If I was charging half fee I would insist on the correct notice as they have agreed to this in the contract

I used to charge my holidays at half fee with 4 weeks notice otherwise it was full fee. But I now charge full fee for holidays so it doesn't matter if I get notice or not I just enjoy a quiet week. Most of my parents still tell me well in advance.
but at the end of hte day it is your business so you can charge what and how and when you want if that makes sense

I ask for 4 weeks notice but I find that I rarely get it!
Its always a last minute 'oh we arent coming next week'.
Gets on my nerves a bit, should start charging for late notice!!

I also ask for four weeks notice from parents and if I want holiday give them at least four weeks notice too. Most parents are very good and tell you well in advance but I used to look after a child who's parents just didn't arrive with her and when I called to see if she was coming for the day they told me they were on holiday I charged them the full rate.

I ask for 4 weeks but also mention at interview that as they pay me in full that really doesn't matter so long as I know! They have my hols for the whole year by October/November for the following years BUT I will have to tell them there may be extra time for EYFS trining this yr!
