I charge 1/2 fee for both mine/parents holiday however my holidays have increased to 5/6 weeks for the past two years and will be 6 next year but I don't feel comfortable charging 1/2 fee for that time so I am changing to no fee for my holidays but what am unsure about parents whether to charge 1/2 or full fee please help.

Hi,
I charge no fee for my holidays and full fee for mindees holidays. None of my parents have ever complained and have always expected to pay when they are not here, just like they would have to at playschool of nursery.
Hope this helps.

thanks for your replies just didn't know if it was cheeky but also do you have any problems with parents using your holidays for themselves if so how do you solve that

Most of my parents have their holidays the same time as i do, there isn`t anything you can do about that, and it saves them the trouble of finding alternative childcare.

I charge no fee for my time off and full fee for parents. I tell them that I take two full weeks holidays a year and the rest will be taken as days her and there possibly either side of a weekend. They are informed as soon into January when the full weeks are booked and any others that we book once Gary's work has okayed these.
I also inform them that I may have to take occasional days off for trainings which NCMA inform us should be aid such as inset days in school sbut I choose to take the days unpaid as I do not think it fair to do that (makes the parents think they are getting a good deal lol). They are made aware that I will give as much notice as possible for time off but occasionally this may not be possible eg in the case of funerals etc

hi
i seem to do the same as most of you, no charge for my holidays but full fee for childrens holidays. the way i justify this to my parents is that i dont charge when i am on hols as im not available and they may have to fund extra care, but when they are on hols i am available am so would make a loss - they seem very happy with this situation although most do seem to take the same hols as me so they end up getting their hol weeks free of charge but there is nothing i can do about this !

If you do your own contracts and charge a reduced fee when the parents/child are away be careful how you word it. Apparently some parents have thought "Parent's Holiday" means they can go on holiday and pay the reduced rate, having left their child with a grandparent who then took child to childminder as usual!!!!!

I charge FT for both mine (4 weeks) and theirs - however many they wish. I close between xmas and new year and make no charge for these 3 days. They are told upfront and if they dont like it they can go elsewhere.

I charge for two weeks of my holiday full pay, but any other holidays, or breaks I take through the year, I don't charge. I feel I am entitled to a holiday, seeing as I didn't have maternity leave! lol
