I charge half fee for bank hols but was just wondering what Im best to do if there is a bank holiday in the week I'm on holiday? I'm thinking of the christmas week, I am going to take a weeks hol from dec 24th-28th & in this week there are 2 bank hols. Do I take 3 days hol (unpaid) & charge half fee for the 2 bank hol days?

At christmas I charge 1/2 fees from Christmas Eve to New Years Day inclusive. Most parents I work with don't need me over the christmas so are happy to consider it a "mutual" holiday. I do the same at Easter now, with 1/2 fees for Good Friday, Easter Monday and 4 additional days chosen by me. Any other bank holiday is full fees. I used to charge 1/2 fees for all bank holidays but realised I seem to be the only one here not getting full fees.
However, I am now least busy on a Monday as parents in p/t contracts have realised its cheaper, if they have the choice, not to work on a Monday.

hello,
I charge full fee for bank holidays if they are contracted for that day. i take 20 days leave unpaid a year so when i take may half term off, one of the days is a BH so i only need to take 4 days off. after all they get paid!
why me!

Hi, I charge full fee for Bank holidays, but no fee for my holidays. If bank holiday falls in with my holiday i.e. at Christmas, parents still pay bank holiday fee so I only need take 3 days unpaid. Parents will get paid for their bank holidays even though they don't work them, and if you add up all your bank holidays times your number of children and their daily fee it's quite alot of money to be out of pocket over Christmas. Hope that makes sense! A x
