i havent started childminding yet i'm waiting on my CRB. Anyway i've been thinking about how much to charge, there is another childminder nearby who charges £2.50ph but idont know if that includes meals or not. There is also a RAF nursery nearby who charges £2.75ph for under 2s and £2.25ph for over 2s. I was thinking of charging £3.00ph including meals but now i'm thinking that if i do that the parents would rather take them to the nursery because they are cheaper so do you think i should go lower on my prices to even up to them abit?

It is difficult to give charges because they differ in the area you live It is up to you it is your business
I charge £3 an hour I charge £1 per meal
So if I have a child for the whole day I would charge the £3 an hour plus an extra £3 for breakfast - lunch - dinner - per day
Do not under cut yourself
To be honest I do not care what other childminders or nurserys charge who are close to me - they are my fees and that is what I charge

I think you should stick to your £3 if that's what you are happy with.
A childminder is really different to a nursery, you give a personal service for the child and the parent so I think that you should charge more. Lots of parents appreciate childminders and want their child in a home-like environment and know they have to pay for it. It's like if you go to a small corner shop because it's handy and you like to chat with the man behind the till - you know it will be more expensive than driving out to the supermarket but if that's what's important to you you still pay it.
That didn't make any sense whatsoever did it! Ha ha! I'm going to leave it on though!!!

Hey x I live in quarters and like yourself there has always been a 'cheaper' nursery avaible. They often never have spaces and are totally unflexible!! so charge the £3 per hour! You will be more flexible, nicer and offer the home from home environment
