Hi Goodwin, Some childminders charge a sessional fee for before & after school, to make it worth there while. Others charge a minimum hourly fee - whether or not all those hours are used. Others just charge a slightly higher hourly rate for before & after school & only charge for the hours wanted/used. You could have a look on your local CIS website & see what others do in your area....But, what you do is completely up to you - it's your business - you don't have to do the same as everyone or you might find a mixture anyway! As long as you are happy with what you'd earn after any expenses - then that's what matters. Tasha

Depending on where you live, I'd ring a few after-school clubs or other minders and find out how much they charge and for how long...... you might find your hourly rate is not enough esp if you're including tea! Like Tasha says, check out listings on your local children's information site as well Sarahx

I do the same as Janet
I charge by the hour - extra for tea
I do not have any child for less than 8 hours a week and state that from the start

My sons after school club was only £5.50 for 2 hours including a snack, my hourly rate is £3.50 so I don't think in my area I could get away with charging a higher rate anyway. (I haven't tried though as I steer clear of before & after schoolers!)
