Hi ya,
i read somewhere that someone was charging double rate for after school care and half the double rate before school - does everyone do that as a general rule as you are having the children for only an hour max before school and for a few hours after school so you won't be earning as much.
I've set my before and after school charges at £3.75 per hour - should i increase this and make after school higher.

Hi ya
I don't know anyone who charges double rate.
Your hourly rate sounds fine if you are happy with it. But it's worth thinking about what you would do if someone only wanted one hour, would you be happy to give up your afterschool time for £3.75?
To make sure that it's worth my while I charge a session fee for after school - 3.30 - 5.30 (anything later would be overtime) Even if someone only wants an hour they still pay the full session fee. Makes it worthwhile then.
But like I say it's up to you, so long as you are happy with it it dones' matter.

I charge my hourly rate for both before and after school. As I'm picking up my own children from school it is actually more convenient if they leave earlier - gives me chance to do homework etc with my own!

Thanks Pauline
about the session charges - i charge by the sessions - morning and afternoon session whether the kids attend for the full session or not. I charge £16 per session so does that mean i use this charge for the before and after school sessions or do i create a seperte session charge if you understand what i mean -

Yes I get what you mean. I too have morning and after noon sessions.
and yes I do a separate session for before and after school, on my fees leaflet I call it Breakfast Club and After School Club as parents seems to understand the meaning better for some reason!
