Hiya everyone
I'm new to this and just getting all my bits and bobs together before going to Ofsted. The nurseries around my way charge for mornings or afternoons or full days and don't charge hourly. I was wondering if anybody charges a set amount for say 8am-1pm like the nurseries do or do you all use the hourly rate? Think the minimum charge that the nurseries use would make more money....
Thanks Debbie

Hi, I also do an hourly rate as it works better for me and I am better off doing it that way, but it is your business and it is what ever works best for you. Lorraine xx

I charge hourly because its easrier when parents want a more flexible arrangement ie starting at 10am and finishing at 3pm so how would you charge for that.
Some childminders do charge half days
i personaly think childminders offer a more flexible childcare i know we can lose out sometimes
I don't know if this helps

The way I do it now is to charge a set hourly rate (currently £4) and offer a daily rate that represents a cheaper hourly fee (currently £32 for ful day 8-6 and a "school day rate" £23 for 9-3.15).
So those that want me to tie up a day space for the sake of a few hours pay a higher hourly rate to compensate for the difficulty/impossibility of getting a client to book the unused part of the day.
In the past i've had tiered hourly rates - cheapest rate for 40 hours or more weekly middle rate for 20-39 hours dearest rate for 0-19 hours per week.

I offer £x per hour or £x per day and with the full day rate just cheaper than 8 hours on the hourly rate.... then it's up to the parents if they want to leave children here longer for teatime or not Sarahx

i do what some of the others do, i charge a slightly reduced rate for a full day (8-6pm) and an hourly rate for other times.
as it works out cheaper for the daily rate i have one family that pay the daily rate but pick child up by 5 each day.

Thanks for that everyone. Hi Angel - I've had my pre-reg and am just getting everything ready before I get Ofsted out as I believe they are coming out very quickly after sending your forms off at the moment!

I charge full day rates or half day rates full day 8am-6pm but if parent drops child at 9am -5pm (as 2 do) they still pay full day rate £40 as I cant fill in the 2 spare hrs. - half day is £20 for 4.5 hrs or less. - i charge £60 a week for before school and after school

Debbie x Hi Debbie I wouldnt panic about getting your rates sorted out yet as Ofsted arent interested in all that at your pre reg visit. They will just inspect your house and will probably ask you questions about how you plan to stimulate the children etc. Good luck Alison x

Hi Debbie
Only just got round to reading your reply
That is true Ofsted do not ask you about fees or anything like that so I would not worry if I were you
