Hi
I have had some interest from parents with siblings and i do say on my website that i will give a discount. the parents want me to look after the children full time
The only thing is that i don;t know how to work it out - or how a discount is applied for example -
i charge £16 per session mon to fir 8am - 6pm full day £30 so do i only charge £28 and give a £2 discount or do i divide £30 by 10hours (my working hours which will give me a hourly rate of £3 and then give a discount on that eg £2.75 £2.75 times by 10 =27.50
also am i right in thinking that i only give a discount to the eldest sibling
arghhhhh working out money is really hard - but once i've got it then i'll be fine

Yes you are right dicount applies to eldest child. It's up to you how you dicount - most people knock of 50p or a £1 from their hourly & adjust the daily rate accordingly. Tasha

I think a lot of childminders now do not offer discount - Well I have found that anyway
I suppose in a way you are minding 2 children why should you offer discount why be out of pocket yourself?
But me being me I never take my own advice
I charge £3 an hour per child
If there are 2 in the same family I charge £5 for the two of them instead of the £6 that it would be per hour

I used to charge half price for second child (yes I know I was mad) but now I only offer 50p reduction per hour as I had to put my rates down when I moved to this area.
