Hello all well my friend has finally got bk to me with hours she needs childcare and is coming over thursday to do contracts. Thing is I want to charge her for the full day mon and tue coz cant have anyone else really with the times she has given me and she is my last vacancy for those days. I will be having her child for 22 hrs per week but its is on every day monday - friday which is fine the other days i would be bothered with are mon and tue coz would reduce how much i can earn but wed i have a child all day and thur and fri i will still have one vacancy
the hours she needs me are mon 8.30 - 1.30 tue 1.30 - 6.00 wed 8.30-1.30 thur - 1.30 -6.00 fri - 2.30 - 6.00
I want to try and make as much as i can obviously but how do you think i should charge whats the norm ? do you think i could get away with chargin a daily rate on mon and tues? and just the hourly rate the rest of the days i dont want to make any more mistakes so i want to cover myself

How about working aout a weekly rate based on what you want to earn, then telling her you have given her a discount as you would normally charge a full day for more than 4hrs a day? So she would be getting a considerable discount on what she would have to pay for 5 full days and you get what you want!

I look after a baby every day 8.30-1.30 but I only charge her for those hours. It's your choice how you want to charge as it's your business. Sorry not much more help.

I think that Sharons advice is good. She may not be happy to think you are charging her a full day rate for mon & tues but if you sell it to her in a 'I've done you a bit of a discount' way she is likely to be more happy. Sorry I can't be of more help as I charge for the hours only.

I also only charge for the hours the child is with me, i think the only way is to do what rainbowmum says

As these are the hours required that would be all I charged. Unless she started asking for extra hours here and there which a contract review would be needed if you say yes loads! (like myself hehe, of course I'll work Thursday, hum be firm M)

I still dont know what to do!!! she will be here at half 11 i think i will just test the water and see how she reacts to paying daily rate coz what you all said about weekly rate is great idea only trouble is she knows what my hourly rate is so dont want her to think im mucking her about. But after thinking it through i do think im making the right decision charging her for mon and tue bcoz i take her on and i cant have anyone else that day so i ideally need someone all day to make money up so with her coming half day reduces my chances of finding someone to fill gap and im going to tell her im compromising with her coz rest of week i will just charge hourly rate even though i could charge for the whole week because of it being erratic hours. oh!!! im scared wish me luck if she dont go for it i think i will just charge hourly rate better than losing her all 2gether x

Well done Stacie
Pleased you managed to get a deal that suited you - I think it's always harder sorting out the money when it's people we know.
Cheers
