I am registering at the moment and am trying to set my prices. My childminder at the moment charges a daily rate and an hourly rate. Then before and after school changes her mind on her prices and they are nearly doubled. How does everyone else charge?

I charge £3.00 an hour Saturdays £3.50 Siblings £2.75 minumin 2 hours a day (£6.00) so evan if they only wanted 1 hour i would charge for 2.
Same rate for all ages
I would look at what others charge in your area and what is included; for example food is included in my price
You don't want to under or over price yourself.
I know i could charge more as most in my area charge £3.50 without meals.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Hiya I charge £3.50 an hour, £2.50 per half hour before and after school, £5 an hour unsociable hours (ie after 6pm, before 8am).
I know some childminders charge a daily rate but I mind all part timers and find it easier to charge by the hour.
The rate in my area is between £3 and £5 per hour so I tried to place myself somewhere in the middle. Its a good idea to have a look at your local children's information services website to see what everyone else charges and what they include
Hope this helps a little
All the best xx

Hi I don't charge a daily rate I just do an hourly rate, I charge £4.00 an hour and that is for before and after school as well. Saying that I had an enquiry the other day for after school for every day until 6.00 and I didn't really fancy doing it to 6 every night as my daughter does things and I like to spend a bit of time with her, so I quote 4.50 an hour and they said yes, they are coming to see me on Monday. I am double what the after school club is but the club is full so I thought I would give it ago, but I really didn't think they would go for it but they have. The going rate in my area is between 3.50 to 4.00 per hour. Just go what other childminders charge and like someone said look on the cis website to see what they charge. At the end of the day it is your business so charge want you are happy with. Hope it all goes well. Lorraine xx

Hi, I charge £5 an hour - the going rate for my area is now £4.50 to £6. I will probably put my fees up next April to £5.50, as by then everyone else will put their fees up! I charge £1.50 for meals & £1.00 for snacks. It is quite common in my area to charge £6 an hour with food charges on top. I make sure that if the parent is paying for meals that how many & what are written into the contract. When I first started i charged £4 for the first 6ish months - then put my fees up in April - (this is the beginning of my year as it's the time tax years start) - Again I made sure that parents knew the fees where going up and it was all written in the contracts. I charge £7 an hor for Saturdays & Bank holidays if I'm working. I also make sure parents know about/are getting tax/working credits as I have become aware that this makes a huge difference to what the parents are prepared to pay towards childcare! Hope this helps Tasha As said above the best bet is to see what the going rate in your area is and set your fees accordingly as the rates vary from area to area.

I do have a daily rate of up to 8 hours which is £23.00 per day anything other 8 hours is charged at £3.00 per hr or £4.50 if unsociable hours.
I also have a weekely rate of a typical 40 hr wk which is £110 per week
Holidays - parents holiday - full fee my holiday - no fee
parent/child sick etc: full fee.
Hope this helps the going rate in my area as just increased to £3.50 some have increased but a few have remained at £3.00 so i have decided to start low and increase on reviews etc: so i actually have a chance of getting mindees . coz lots of minders in my area

Best to find out the going rate for your area because you can see it is different everywhere
It is only 3pound an hour in my area although we do charge a pound extra for each meal so that can bump it up a little
Hope it goes well for you good luck with your registration
