i have read a previous thread and have decided to charge half fee during the holidays.
i was just wondering if parents are happy with paying it or if anyone else has experienced objections to this?
also when should you recieve payment?
i want parents to pay me in advance for that week or month and would expect the retainer before the holidays but is it too much to ask them to pay in advance during the summer holidays(starting next year)?

I don't think there is any right or wrong here. It would be worth checking what other minders in your area do and broaching it with the parents. At least by giving them plenty of notice to a contract change (1/2 fees in hols) then they should have time to plan how to fund it.
Sorry can't be of more help

Hi
As Mel said there is no right or wrong answer but there was some other threads on this i am sure if you have a look you might find them. At the end of the day it is your business and it is what you are happy with and if the parents are happy with it.
If it is a term time only contract then I charge and I know childminders round by mind charge half fees.

I've put in my contracts that where a payment day occurs during a holiday then the parent agrees to make payment prior to the commencement of the holiday unless automated payments have already been arranged.
When I make any changes to fees I like to give parents plenty of notice, which usually means introducing the new fee structure to new parents and advising existing parents that this will be the arrangement when their contract is next renewed.

I agree with the others
It is your business so your rules
Whatever works well for you and the parent
