I have used busy bees and they are great, the only thing i have found, the mum can only put £243 of her wages to the vouchers so she does the rest in cash/chq. this is not a problem for me just a bit of a pain for her
i think the sooner she decides which scheme she's using you just need to register and give them your bank details and then they do the rest

Thanks everyone
So these vouchers are how they pay you then, where do they the parents get them from , is it from their work?
What details will I need or will they need to set it up
So you all think they are a good idea , ive had mixed reactions about them

I was just about to ask you all about Childcare vouchers & came across this thread.
One of my Mums asked me this morning if I would accept vouchers as it makes it cheaper for her I said I didnt see why not as long as I knew what to do with the vouchers!
Sorry to seem daft, but do I just give my bank details to the parents & then they give them to their employer or do I register on the providers website myself? Do they then pay you direct int your bank account? Does anyone know the frequency of the payments?
Thanks in advance x

Since I started this thread I have found out more about the vouchers You need to register on their site You can do it straight away I did it mths ago and they baby does not start till June If you go to their website you can find out more information I have been told that payment is good but if you are due to get paid for example on a Monday it could take till the Friday to go into your account Not sure how true this is www.busybeesvouchers.com/parent-enquiry/6.htmlThey will send you a pack which explains more My parent will pay some of her childminding with the vouchers and some by cash to make up the payment Angel xx

Hi
I have been paid through Care-4 and Accor in the past.
You have to register with the companies which can take up to ten days to sort out but generally is a lot quicker. I have found this a very efficient method of payment as the system works when the parent uses it right.
You can be paid in physical vouchers or electronically (bank credit). In the past my 'parents' have topped up the voucher account from their wages and sent me the whole amount electronically.
How it works - The parent has their account with the voucher company and you also have an account. I am paid in advance on the first of each month - so if the parent is paid say on the 24th the money is paid directly into the voucher account. The parent has to then action the payment to be sent directly to my bank account which takes a few days. You can also track the status of your payment as you are given a pin number to access the voucher account and you can see funds coming in and then being sent out so I used to log on to see if the parent had actioned the payment - if they hadn't I used to remind them therefore ensuring that I got paid on time.
The voucher company also either sends you an email or a text message to your mobile to let you know that the payment is on it's way.
If I had a choice I would always prefer to be paid this way as the payment can always be tracked. If the system fails it is usually because the parent hasn't done what they were supposed to do!!!

www.childcarevouchers.co.uk/index.aspthis is one of the companies who deal with the vouchers, so you should be able to find out how it works. I am registered with care 4 however have not yet had a parent paying me this way hope the link is helpful to some of you xx

Sarah any childminder can be paid with these vouchers
You may also have heard of nursery vouchers - these are for childminders who are accredited
The parent gets paid by their employer to help with their tax for the year They get paid into your account
It would be the parent who asked if they could pay you that way though so you have no reason to do anything unless you wanted to register incase you get a parent that pays this way in the future?
The busy bees website is informative as is the site that Lana gave

It is what I am almost !!! Only "accredited" childminders who belong to an NCMA Children Come First approved childminding network can offer early years education sessions. To become accredited the childminder must demonstrate to the network coordinator how they meet the additional NCMA Children Come First Quality Standards relating to early years education There is some information here www.ncmaccf.org.uk/Templates/Information.asp?NodeID=90257Angel xx

Hi I used to pay my Childminder with Accor vouchers. Your employer has to be part of the scheme for you to use them. Basically the money came out of my wage before tax, therefore I was saving money. There is a limited amount that you could have depending on how much you earn.
The vouchers were sent direct to me, I had to sign them and I passed them onto my Childminder each month. She then activated the vouchers on-line and the money was paid into her bank account. She loved it!!! Most childminders get paid cash each week, but this way she was able to save the money as it went directly into her savings account.
They are a brilliant idea and I wouldn't hesitate in accepting them. I never had any problems.

angeldelight - late fees It is the parents who have signed the contract agreeing to pay your late fees who are responsible for paying the fees. I also have written in to my contract that they agree to reimburse any costs I incur as a result of their late payment in addition to the late payment fee of £5 per day. The parent has to authorise each payment so its usually their fault if its late.
However, Busy Bees paid me 9 days late and paid my late fees on that occasion as it was their fault and they agreed to pay any bank charges as well. Allsave have always paid on time but once they paid me twice! (clawed back the over payment a couple of days later).
I tell parents that I am willing to give any employer voucher a trial but reserve the right to decline any particular voucher should they not be able to pay me on time.

Hi
I am new to this site, but thought I would jump in on this thread.
I use the Sodhexo voucher scheme, but have only just signed up as have some new after school children whose mum receives these. I was signed up within a couple of days, their mum gives me paper vouchers and I ring up and get them credited to my savings account. I rang up to claim a voucher on Friday and apparently it will be in my account on Weds as it has to go through the banking system

Ok. As a nanny previously my boss also registered for the busy bee vouchers, but in order for him to have these i had to complete, a first aid course, an interview showing my certificates of qualifications and a CRB check. All of this cost money! £75 for the first aid and then extra for all other bits. Not sure who is responsible for this as a childminder?

mia, It wouldn't normally be an issue for a childminder as first aid courses are often paid for by your local authority and even if not, are required within the first 6 months of registering. Also, ofsted perform the crb check and you receive all the paperwork so I don't think there would be any additional cost involved.
