I was wondering What do you all charge for outside contracted hour?
The aprents that I am having trouble paying in advance were very alte collectiong there child today it was gone 6 o'clock when he was collected, I was wondering what I should charge for the extra time I had their son?
any advice would be great.
Oh have mentioned about fees & they are going to pay 1/2 Feb fees with the whole of march fees then pay the other 1/2 with Aprils.

Hi Shirl, thats great news about the payments, Are you happy with it?? For the overtime I would charge time and a half......perhaps you should charge double as they didnt pre arrange it with you.

That is good news Shirl about your payments.
But once they start paying some of the debt off why don't you change their payments to weekly otherwise every month that they are late it is just always going to be a high amount? Maybe you should work something else out once you have got some of this money back?
When are they going to pay you the first half, I hope they do , because saying and doing are two very different things I think that they can see you are very soft Sorry to be a killjoy but it a hell of a lot of money and I think you are going to have to get tougher with them.
I put it into my contract that if people collect their children late then after 15 min it is 2.50 then after half an hour up to the hour it is £5 So for example if they were late for hour and half it would be £7.50
These parents really are taking you for granted though and I so hate to see it I have had people take me for granted in the past and I'm sooooo soft sometimes that I annoy myself so I just know how you feel
They already owe you money yet now they abuse your kindness with being late for collecting they really should be ashamed of themselves
I have something that I typed up recently about parents being late if you would like a copy of it - then you could just pass it on to them explaining if it makes that easier for you? Let me know and I could email it to you
Good luck Shirl

Yes pleae angel I do have a policy on late collection but am now going to change it too. the parents have 3 days to pay. If I lost the child to mind it would be no hardship as they are crying out for minders here, my friend keeps having turn them away.

Oh it's same they are not like the other parents I mind for they paid for the 3 days I had there son the same day he started (Wed) then yesterday mum gave me another £3 for the extra 15 mins I had her some, she didn't have to but she did.
Think about the parents that owe money I am going to talk to my bank about what is the safest way to transfer money to my bank every month that migh be a better idea only trouble with that I can see is that contract hours are as follows: Mon- Thurs hours are 7.50am - 4pm Fri hours are 7.50 - 12.30pm but if dad is not able to collect child mum will collect about 5pm so on the contract it says if dad is unable to collect at contracted time mum will collect at 5pm. Now I invoice them for the contracted hours but quite a bit is mum has collected so it is more hours, what I might suggest is pay X amount straight in to my account & pay the rest in cash. What do you all think I need your wishdom girls.
I would like to say thank you for all your suport in this.

If I were you Shirl I would just charge for the whole day Friday then it is up to them whether they collect early or not.
You can't let the afternoon out to someone else and they are booking the hours on a might/might not use them basis so ought to pay for them.
I would also change payment days to Monday in advance once you have the money they owe you sorted.

Oh I was going to charge them for the whole afternoon . I am going to also ask them to give me more notice if I am to have their child longer on a Friday afternoon, and not to take me for granted that I am free then.
