You could do this with the children once a week when it goes dark around 4 to 5pm or later of course if it is your own children Tell them they are doing it to lead santa in the right direction for christmas and by the time christmas comes he will have found the way, it helps the children also count down the days with you making it not seem such a long wait . A great activity to start at the beginning of December
Help santa find his way to your house by mixing glitter and porridge oats and let the children sprinkle them on your path. The glitter will sparkle to light up Santa's way, and the porridge oats will feed the reindeer. ( birds )

We made bags of this mixture last Christmas - then the children took them home to sprinkle on the garden on Christmas Eve so Santa would be able to see the glitter and know where to land his sleigh.

I made some of this last year and gave it to my younger mindees. I put it into a little christmas card and added the following poem (my auntie sent it to my little girl a few years ago) This christmas eve, sprinkle the magical christmas dust on your garden. The glitter will sparkle in the moonlight and help Father Christmas find your house. The smell of the oats will guide his reindeer. Carole xx Just re read the post and realised that you had already put something similar Angel, I really must concentrate!!! I'll blame it on the Friday night feeling ;D

Ahhhh I wish my own were little that sounds good. Never mind I will do it with mindees. One of my parents used to dip his boot in talc and "walk" over the carpet on Christmas eve so when kids got up in the morning Santa's footprint was by their gifts.
