Hi,
The course you take to become a childminder, is it a distant learning course or do you have to attend. I am just wondering as my pre reg meeting is in the morning and not arranging any childcare which i find odd and worried that if it is during the day then it will be the same. If there is anyone in Northampton can you possibly tell me your experience.
Thanks Louise

It's usually an evening course - about 8 weeks I think.... there is a distance learning option but it's very expensive and your grant (if you get one) may not cover it - give your local CIS a ring Sarahx

Our ICP course was at a local college in the evening and lasted for 6 weeks. Distance learning wasn't an option even though for some people the college was quite a trek. Sorry can't help with what your area is like.

Hi there,
I have been tutoring the ICP's in our area, but different areas do differ slightly so check. In our area we have evening courses which run over 6 weeks (2 hrs per week) + exam or over 2 Saturdays + Exam mid week. You could choose to do the course by distant learning but you cannot claim any funding towards the actual course only against the remainder of start up costs. We do not cover any childcare costs, you need to ring your childrens information services.
