You'll be taken through the signs and symptoms of abuse and how to support a child - get help etc You should also be given a safeguarding sample policy and other paperwork about keeping children safe I did mine home study and, tbh, found it draining and pretty dreadful - the things some people do to children are beyond me It is, however, a vitally important and really serious course - good luck! As above..I attended a course & also found it mentally & emotionally v. hard...it's an upsetting subject material & something I find hard to comprehend, but we are in the front line when it comes to recognising signs etc, so we HAVE to know what to look for & how to deal with it. I am pleased that I did the course, but hope the three years passes slowely before I have to re do it! Tasha

I did mine at evening class a while back and it is very tough to listen to some of the things that they tell you but we do need to know so we can help protect the children who need us to recognise they are been abused. As hard as it was I'm glad I have some knowledge of what to look for and how to deal with it should i ever need to .. god forbid xxx

I agree with the others - it's not a course you could say you enjoyed but it does give you all you need to know about the different kinds of abuse and what you should do if you ever suspect that it's happening to a child you know or care for.

Sorry just catching up on threads.
Totally agree with everyone.
I just did level 1 last month and have level 2 in two weeks not really looking forward to it as long days and think it will be really intense.

I did the course yesterday and found it really interesting. It was hard to listen to some of the cases he told us about without getting really angry. I did start to get annoyed with some of the girls there who were from nurseries and very young who sniggered when some more choice words came into use. If they cant listen and take something like this seriously how are they mature enough to look after kids!!!! Ive decided to do level 2 after Xmas as I have food hygeine next sat and then first aid the following 2 sats. Sam

Most of the people on my course were from nurserys too.
I've got level 2 on the 17th & 24th of this month and dreading it.
Although we were told it was more to do with the policy
I'll let you know what it's like
