Has anybody been on the HM Revenue and Customs workshops for self employed people, and if so are they worth going to? Just rung Inland Revenue to register as self employed and they offered to book me on a workshop. Don't want to go if it's a waste of time. Thanks Marie

What they say to you is.... you're the small fry, we really don't want to have to go to the bother of investigating you, we're after the big fish.... So if you're going to do your books yourself, do them properly and take off the proper amounts and make the figures look realistic so we can ignore you and get on with the real work of catching big villains Then they give you deductions for self employment and tell you stories about how people drew too much attention to themselves in the past and did silly things while massaging the figures Useful courses for builders, painters and decorators etc - are you looking for a man?
