I've just back from my EYFS briefing meeting.
I thought it looks better than the BTTM and Foundation stage.
I overheard a couple childminders say they were going to give up.
Anyone else been to a briefing yet?
How did you find it?

I really think it's better! I never got on that well with the birth to 3 matters - I'm an ex teacher and more used to working at foundation stage level and always thought they'd somehow squashed birth to 3 to fit! Hard to explain..... I love the developmental stages info for eyfs - I can really see what they mean and how children slot in at the different levels with good overlaps to account for individuality. I also like the way it formalises what we already do - I think that's why some people don't like it - cos they don't do it already and it's a big shock to the system! I'm putting some obs and planning stuff in place now and looking forward to my training!! Can't wait love learning new things! Sarahx

Hi, havent been on the training course yet but looking forward to when we can go on one, like Sarah I love learning new things, and think that we are doing most of it anyway, I know of a couple of childminders that have given it up but its mostly down to ofsted rather then the new changes next year.

I like the look of it but still trying to get my head around the different sections and how they all fit together. I get the learning and development section but am struggling to understand what will be required in terms of written info re the other sections. Will have to wait for training to see how it all pans out.

Ours is supposed to be Autumn but they haven't arranged the dates yet. I hope I'm not already busy by the time they let us know.

I am disappointed as our training for EYFS is all during the week so no way I can make that.

why do they do that? Lots of our training is in the week in term time and not 'school hours friendly'. We all work with children during the week and often need to be around for school pick ups. They then say there wasn't enough interest in the course Then they often don't run another one..... Thats enough of a rant for today ;D Mel x

Well, the training support team in my area is sick of me complaining about this - they say that not enough people have moaned regarding this, so nothing will change! Soooooooooooo, everybody ring up their local training support team and have a rant!!!!! Tasha
