Ive just spent another £10.00 today putting my advert in shop windows to hopefully get some calls. Ive not actually started childmining yet and a bit worried about my expenses, can I put them against my earnings when I do get a child or is there a time limit. Really dont know how this works. Sarah

Hi My step father is an accountant and he said it would be no problem to offset setting up costs. Although this can be done for up to three years, I am working on a 6 month set up period which I will claim back against tax this year.

Most new business's have set up costs so it's not a problem. I started the registration process at the end of last year and have been registered as self employed since then. Just because you don't have any income doesn't mean you are not working. the amount of time I have spent writing policies researching activities and buying (lots and lots) I have logged on last years tax return. It showed a loss of course but that again is usually expected from new business's.
