Hi
Welcome to the forum.
I know that if you were staying in the same area you could carry on minding providing that you advise Ofsted and provide them with an action list that you carried out to guarantee that the property was safe.
However I am not really sure about moving to a different area but I think that you have to be inspected and registered with the new area before you can advertise or start minding. As I said I am not 100% sure and could be talking a load of rubbish - hopefully someone else may have a better idea.
Why don't you contact Ofsted helpline tomorrow and ask the procedure then you would definately know either way.

Hi K welcome to the forum I'm not too sure on the procedure for moving area either, I would take Dee's advice and give Ofsted a ring and see what they say. Are you going to be able to mind the same children you are minding now or is it too far away and you will be starting again?

Thanks Pauline and Dee,
We are moving from Herts to Northants so will be starting all over again and really nervous about it. I have been settled with 2 families now since the children were 4 months old and are now 2 and half. I know its lazy , but just wondered if you have the Ofsted helpline number to hand?
many thanks for your reply
K.

In the past Ofsted HAD to inspect before issuing a certificate to childmind in the new property. The rules have since changed and Ofsted can choose to issue a certificate without first inspecting the property.
Its seems from posts I've read elsewhere that it is likely that they will still want to visit first if you are recently registered or its been ages since your last inspection or you had actions at your last inspection. If you've been inspected recently & got outstanding, for example, they should be able to trust in your judgement that the new property is in a safe & suitable condition.
If you write to Ofted with risk assessment (list of what you've done in each room & garden to make it safe for childminding) there's not much left for them to check.
