I'm thinking of getting a voluntery assistent for three days aweek 3 hours aday (NOT payed) will i need to have a employer's liability certificate? i know they will need a CRB check and the cm2 be filled out with details. Who will have to pay for the crb? i was told ofsted will pay the cost.
I've tryed to ask other childminder's about this but no info from them, would i have to write out a contract out.
anyother info would be most helpful.
John.

Yes i've just had a phone call this afternoon from my cousin, she is moving back to barrow. She worked as a voluntary assistent in a children's home where she lived. But had other poeople asking too. I have sent an email to NCMA and i'll ask Ofsted on Monday when i have my visit.
She wanted to start in two weeks that's why i want to get the ball rolling.

Hi John Ofsted will pay for the CRB. I would contact your insurance and check their rules on assistants, they will probably be cover for working with the children but not sure about your liability to them when the are on the premises. I would make some kind of written agreement on what you expect the assistant to do and what their duties are so that there is no misunderstanding. Good luck hope it works out.

I would imagine they'll need insurance... also some sort of permission form for parents re intimate care etc You'll need to draw up a - what they're allowed to do / not allowed to do agreement CRBs are currently taking 8-10 weeks according to one mother who came to see me today - there's a back log at the police check stage apparently Sorry if this isn't quite what you were hoping for! I don't think i will be bothering geting one now as Ofsted says an assisitent can be left with the children for half an hour. i wanted to have the assisiten to have at least an hour for me to do a school run so i don't have to take the others with me. And i can't see getting a fully trained childminder working for nothing.
I thought an assistent could be left with the children for at least 2 hours i was told.
Ho well Maybe when i've rich lol not in chilminding

Hi John,
On my certificate it doesn't say how long I can leave the assistant with the children.
Just says " may at times, agreed in writing with parents, leave the assistant in sole care of the children"
